Celtic Fairy Necklace Nemontana

S/he is the god/dess energy of  the ‘sacred grove’ or ‘sanctuary’ and can appear whole or in part in several places. Her favourite place to reside is focused on the Hawthorn tree but she loves all groves and gives sanctuary.  She holds the stillness and quiet of a perfect day; she is the stillness at the end of it, when certain birds sing to the dusk. She is the spirit of a home, a place, an idea.

She sometimes comes into the Canadian Lynx, moths with orange and Great Horned Owl, to bring you messages but there is a roman depiction of her with a Ram.  If she chooses to come out in the day, not often, she will appear as orange butterfly.

She manifests wishes, protection, joy, stronger magic, luck and nature. Without her one would go mad.

‘Bawming the Thorn‘ is a ritual that takes place every year in Appleton, England, still to this day, where she is called Nemetona. It is an occasion for the community to gather together and decorate a hawthorn tree in the center of town. In Ireland she is called Nemhain.
